I like fingerstyle playing and acoustic guitars with thick strings… I like to feel the wood under my fingertips, but what move me the most is compose and perform my own music….
SIMONE ALFONSI is an italian guitarist and composer based in Rome. He approached music at the age of twelve, after having accidentally stumbled upon an old guitar at his grandparents’ house. Over the years he developed a complex and sophisticated style, using a large number of alternate tunings and combining some of the most popular modern acoustic guitar techniques, such as tapping, harmonics and percussions. His repertoire of original compositions employs both contenporary and traditional acoustic guitar sounds, and blends together Irish music, blues, ballads and up-tempos, resulting in a unique sound that depicts a musical world full of nuances and contrasts. During his formative years, Simone studied jazz guitar, and in 2007 he graduated at the Saint Louis College of Music. In the meantime, he played in a large number of bands ranging between Jazz, Pop and Rock and alternating between electric and acoustic guitar. Within these bands, he could cooperate with many musicians, and he performed in popular venues such as Villa Celimontana and the Hard Rock Cafe’. Finally, his career reached a turning point when he moved to fingerstyle and started his Solo Acoustic Project. As solo artist, he had the opportunity to perform during some prestigious events such as: ”Un Paese a sei Corde 2018” (a notorious Italian guitar festival which over the years has hosted internationally renowned artists such as Jon Gomm, Pierre Bensusan, Don Ross and Tony McManus), and ”Estate Romana 2018”, (a famous festival that for over 40 years has been organising artistic and cultural events in the city of Rome and its suburbs). Simone is currently working on his first solo album, which will come to life in the coming months…
